summer dinner love

What I love about summer dinners:
inside - the light sticking around long enough to join us for an evening meal
outside - Well, everything. Even when we're not actually eating outside, I'm dreaming about eating outside. And dreaming about jumping into any of these photographs with a summer dinner in hand:

Great photos- and great photo links. I'm really starting to get into summer here in MN too. It's been a while since I've lived in a place with four distinct seasons- It's fun to get back to that feeling of "oh it's summer. winter is FINALLY over!".
I also noticed that you but Barbara Kingsolver's new book on your sidebar- I'm loving my way through this book right now- great pick, and so perfect for summer and a season ahead of eating fresh fruit and veggies! (hopefully from my garden!)

You're making me want to clean off/out my porch and set a table for supper! It's just so hot already..... south Georgia is in the 90's, except when we have a much needed summer evening storm that rattles and rolls our old house.
Maybe dessert and a tall glass of sweet tea?
I love the way you make everything seems new and needed. Great job!

We just got our first set of outdoor furniture and I've insisted on eating outside every night since ... although I'm sure it doesn't help my hayfever!

I'm on the other side of the world (and it is summer here too, albeit a very rainy one) and your posts always inspire such a sense of calm enjoyment. In the tropics, high summer is often something to be endured rather than celebrated, but you're giving me a beautiful perspective on it all! Always reading your posts, always enjoying your outlook.....

Beautiful photos, both yours and the flickr links. I'm with Karen though - what to do about New England mosquitoes!?

geek+nerd and karen -
are the bugs bad where you are? They were ridiculously bad a few weeks ago, particularly up North a bit. But here and now, they only seem to come out after dark, which is when we're heading in for the babes' bedtime anyway. I do think Portland - with the cooler temps and ocean breezes - gets it easy on the bugs.
Oh, but I have been digging a new bug spray this year - it's the Kiss My Face SwyFlotter. I've been covering all of us in it whenever we hit the woods. Smells so good.
