OH. SO. SUMMER! Love all the pictures, Amanda. Daddy's shoulders, the bouncing up and down thrill of the ticket booth, fried goodies, ferris wheel lights at night and gorgeous old men in little yellow cars! I really can't imagine how it could get any better than that!
My sister just called me her in GA from maine, where she is visiting for the day (she's working in Boston) and was on her way to this festival!!! It's so much fun to see your pictures and have a glimpse into what she's seeing right now. I wonder if you have a booth there...
Does the doughboy booth do deep-fried Oreos? At the Blue Hill Fair, one of them has been selling them the last couple years and they are much yummier than you'd think. The Oreo filling melts (it's all shortening, you know) and makes this lovely gooey chocolate blob in the center of a chunk of fried dough. Mmm...grease...
Those are some of my favorite memories of living in Connecticut: in our case, the county fair. Those pictures almost made me weepy, I miss those little things about summer on the East Coast!
I have since moved away, but I remember going to the Yarmouth Clam Festival as a child... I used to think it was completely amazing that they closed the whole street just for fun! Ah, the perspective of a kid, huh? Thanks for the pictures and the trip down memory lane.
Amanda...that looks like such a fun day!!
What memories for your family. :o)
I am celebrating my belated blog birthday with a handmade by me handbag giveaway...try to say that quick three times in a row. :o)

You managed to catch the beauty of the Clam Festival without any of the typical carnival trappings that come with it. Nicely done. My son at his first Clam Fest? Confused by the Shriners, entranced by the musicians.
There's a Yarmouth Maine? Who knew!
My fiance is from Yarmouth N.S., where the CAT ferry runs to Maine.
(Dough - Yum!)

The Shriners in their tiny cars are killing me on the inside. Summer time fun with fried foods, yum.

The shriners are what makes any parade and then the yummy good-for-you foods at the carnival part.
