A happy Equinox to you - in whichever hemisphere you call home!

Hello to - slippers :: favorite fairs:: foliage :: cardigans :: tights :: knitting weather :: wool socks :: cool weather hikes :: acorns :: baking :: apples :: pumpkins :: crunchy leaves :: a quieter city :: emptier beaches :: and so very much more.

After a summer hiatus, I'll be opening the Etsy shop tomorrow, at 10am EST. I'll post here when it's all up and ready!

I can see this will be my spot to see real signs of autumn in nature! And of course artful autumn too.

Hmm, warm woollies, cozy slippers, the nights drawing in, our local annual fair, my autumn babies birthdays, halloween, the colours of Autumn, crafting for christmas, and tummy warming food. It's all good...
A lot to think about!

how fun- i've been working on a fall embroidery almost exactly like yours! happy autumn to you as well.

I can't wait to put on my woolly slippers and make a nice pot of chile and apple pie. Yumm.

Happy First Day of Fall! We always try to make this a special celebration, full of pumpkin bread baking and autumn crafting. It's going to be a nice day. Enjoy yours as well.

Oh, I love it.

Fell is my 'zone', when I feel totally alive (and when those summer allergies finally let go of me!)

I think the things of fall are the finest of all and you mentioned my favourites!

We spent the day and night camping and it was a wonderful way to make the transition, hearing the falling leaves hit our tent all night and then waking up in the cool, misty fall morning.

Now my official first day of fall activity is to cook and can the pie pumpkins sitting on my kitchen table!

Happy equinox to you!

I know this is weird but I really love the font for the header lol - works so well with the light and shade play on the wall.

And lovely autumnal embroidery. Settling in for a (hopefully) lovely autumn.

a very happy equinox to you as well, amanda!

the embroidery is fantastic - i'm loving those fallen, falling and soon-to-fall leaves. it's the perfect image for this time of transition.

Colder weather is my kind of weather - any reason to snuggle into and with your favorite warm things :o)

Are you at Common Ground today? I went Friday and had a wonderful time as usual.

It seems like the leaves started to change overnight. It is gorgeous. :)

I *love* the new banner! I'm wondering how you made the title look variegated. So cool!

Thank you for reminding me of the beautiful things that come from this season, I was feeling a little depressed with the change.
Thanks! :)

One of these days, I'm going to make it to the Common Ground Fair. I'm looking forward to seeing your Etsy shop tomorrow.

Happy Blessed Fall to you and yours!

lovely Amanda....

BIG fall fans here also,,,we enjoy all the fun of summer and the awakening of spring but fall is our season....
soups, sweaters, woodstove fired up with a pot of water/orange rinds, cinnamon simmering on top...ahhhhhh fall.

love the tree photo and embroidery. the kids and i are coming back east mid october to visit my dad and step mom....i havent seen the new england trees in fall for 16 years...i know its tragic...we cant wait!!

thanks for the teaser for our trip xxxooo

Eeeeeeek! I'm so excited to see all of your wares! Happy Fall to you!

Love the autumn themed needle work. Fall is my favorite time of year, crunchy leaves, crisp apples and cooler weather. Inspired by your lovely embroidery, I bought a hoop and floss and reacquainted myself with my own needle just this past weekend. I forgot how fun it can be. Thanks for that. My kids thank you too, they love the stuff I've done for them. They are very supportive of my creative endeavors.

Amen to all that! Love the tree.

A Happy and Peaceful Autumn to you, too!

Lovely pictures! :)

Not to be a nuisance (because I think I've asked this before) but I love your embroidery and I would love to know something about the linen cloth you use. Is it specifically for embroidery or do you use the same thing when you sew? And where do you buy it? Thank you!

Happy Autumn Equinox to you and yours!

im ready for fall! your embroidery is beuatiful. is it your design or from a pattern?

bring on the cardigans!!!

Amy - yes, there today! Such a lovely day for it too. Crowded, but good. And I agree completely about the changing leaves - oh my goodness! All of a sudden! Especially up there...

Grace - Playing around with 'bevels' in photoshop! And thank you!

Mary Beth - I almost always embroider on linen, which can be found in several places (online at fabric.com, for one). I like 'oatmeal' the best. And no, it's not just for embroidery!

Samantha - thank you! It was my own little thing. But I have been looking sooo much lately at the vintage embroidery catalog from J.F. Ingalls (which is currently at the top of my "inspiring" sidebar). So it's likely that there's something like that in there that worked it's way into my brain. ;)

I hope you went to Common Ground today - I was counting on you for a report. It certainly was perfect weather for it!

I'm hyperventilating over the opening of your Etsy store since I discovered you over the summer and you had alread "Gone Fishin'" Now how the heck am I going to purchase online at work! ;)

we went to the fair yesterday, and it was wonderful! My husband and I want a farm now more than ever! I can't wait to check out the shop tomorrow! How exciting!
I have been reading your blog for a while now, I am from Maine as well, I also have three kiddos! One girl, two boys...life is good! So nice to read about other, so called "big" families, and get away from all the are you crazy comments that I hear way too much!
Happy fall.

The Common Ground Fair!!!! I grew up in Maine and absolutely loved that fair. I miss it now. Thank you for reminding me of some very happy days!

Fall is such a beautiful season, with all the colours! Your embroidery captures that spirit very well! Nice to discover your blog.

You make me want to embroider!

Happy Fall! My favorite season.
Jill

we are always excited about autumn, too :)

to me it means: chai tea, mittens, sweaters, pumpkin muffins, coffee shops, leaves crunching, bonfires and walking quicker, day by day, to try to get inside a cozy house/shop/etc.

great embroidery, amanda. can't wait to see your shop today.

Oh, I love the colors of fall! Beautiful pictures!

I'm so happy, too! Bring on the tights! Love your tree...

Love this season for all the things you listed. Love the embroidery - the colours of fall are magical!

Oh, your post almost made me cry. I am from a place where fall really means something -- tights and wool and long sleeves and my favorite sweaters and hikes and leaves and the smells -- and I live now in a place where it's still 92 degrees out most days and fall looks and feels like summer. God I ache for fall. I miss it so much.

Lovely tree, by the way. Thanks.

What a beautiful combination of photography and embroidery!
We've been acorn collecting over at our house. So many this year!
Happy autumn to you too!

love - love - love your blog!! it has inspired me every day.

i love that blanket photo in the next post ("check, check"), though i see you aren't accepting comments to it. ;)

Ah that's too bad. I was having a really, really bad day, and hoped to buy some of your wonderful crafts. Maybe tommorow.. :)

Ack! I was stalking all morning! Sorry you're having trouble- looking forward to tomorrow! :)
