what i love :: some yellow with my green

Yellow1a
What I love :: this vintage hair clip from a birthday visit to Ferdinand. Who doesn't need a row of lemons in their hair? Exactly. My little girl got the strawberries. SO cute.

Yellow3
What I love :: these little flower/weed things (that's how much I know) that grow right outside my front door, even though I've never noticed them before. I think they make me sneeze, but I still can't stop smiling when Ezra places them in every empty vessel throughout the house (and hair).

What I love :: my new shoes!

Hooray for your new shoes!! I guess he read your post and got your clues after all.. :))

In Germany, these flowers (because I see them as flowers, you know :-) are called Rainfarn, that means fern on the border of fields, because the leaves look a little bit like fern. In English its called "tansy" I looked it up ;-) I love it too, the flowers reminding me of little gold coins and also their smell gives me memories of time spent in my greatgrandmother's garden. But be careful: It is a little bit poisonous, so Ezra should not lick his fingers or anything after plucking it. Although I never experienced anything bad from it (I only learned that its poisonous some months ago).
This summer I used it in a scoutcamp activity. We made botanical fortune teller's cards and the tansy stood for wealthiness because of the gold coin blossoms. Perhaps you'd like to take a look at my blog post about it, at the end is a short paragraph explaining the whole thing in English :-) http://schwertfischaufkoks.de/2007/botanische-tarot-karten/

Having worked as a holiday rep where my uniform was yellow, yellow and more yellow..I'm not yellows greatest fan..BUT THOSE shoes are gorgeous. Wishing you fun in them....and on that lush looking grass. Ours is the colour of your shoes!, but I have green shoes on....

Brilliant new shoes, gotta love them!

Those shoes are awesome!

love the shoes (and all the yellow). They remind me of a skirt I made....I might have to get some.
BTW, your last shoe post had me running to infinityshoes.com (which I had never seen before) and getting out my credit card. Promise you won't be posting any more at least until my next paycheck?:)

There are a few ladies(!) here for a cup of coffee and all would like to say that you are a lucky lady to have such fine shoes. And after I told them about your hints on an earlier post..they are all in agreement that you are a lucky, lucky lady to have a shoe-buying husband. And they love your green grass. And the way Ezra puts wild flowers in vessels for you. If you feel a weird sensatiion.....it may be all the yellow green envy coming your way!

Yes, i agree, who wouldn't like a row of little lemons in their hair? It's so fresh! I like those little yellow flowers too, so sweet, but they make me sneeze too (I literally sneezed as I looked at them :). And your shoes rock! beautiful blog, thank you for sharing your creativity!

I see the hinting worked...

I love your shoes too!
Jill

Lovely photos. I have those little yellow guys growing outside too, and I often pick them to put in vases. I like the little red berries you often see, too. I don't know about this "weed" business--always rubbed me the wrong way :) Have a wonderful day,
Tere

Major shoe envy!

Cute shoes. Cute barrette. Overall, cute post, I'd say. : )

oh..those shoes! yummy! they remind me of uniform studio's wonderful creations...all the folds and gathers. such texture and movement. like your feet are wrapped in lemony goodness!
wonderful!

I want the lemons AND the gorgeous new treads too! O'm going to have to start droping some hints too! Thanks for the cheery yellow this morning, Amanda!

I just love those shoes. Lucky birthday girl. Like little bits of sunshine following you everywhere you go...

Tansy is one of my favourite wild flower. It's a great natural dye (producing yellows and greens depending on the mordant) and I've read that in the Middle Ages, dried tansy was one of the "strewing herbs" scattered across floors to keep pests away.

Oh, you got the shoes! Yay!! That is such a fabulous shade of yellow. Happy belated birthday!

Wow, those shows look so much cuter on you than they did on the website! They're going on my wishlist right now.

And it's very late now, but I'm always a little behind. I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed your interview on Craftsanity. Yours is a wonderful story and yes, I am green with envy. Is there anything more than "green" with envy? Maybe I'm blue with envy. Best wishes to you!

I love your new shoes too. They sort of look like your feet have been wrapped in a flaky pastry. And that is a good thing :)

love love love the yellow! hair clips, flowers, and shoes - what more could a girl ask for?

i knew this was going to be good while i waited for bloglines to load. hooray for yellow and new shoes!

Crazy! These happy little weeds must pepper all of North America. Maybe I'll take Ezra's cue and display them in a vase.

Oh, the shoes. The SHOES!!!

Love the shoes!

Interesting that tansy is a bit toxic - when I was little my mom and I would make tansy cookies from the plant off the back porch! The recipe came from a darling book with mice on the cover (I can't remember if it was a book about tansy itself, or just included the tansy cookie recipe). Now I must go do some research . . .

The shoes are fabulous - they seem perfect for you!

Oh I love those shoes! Unusual and so cute!

tansy! that brings back memories of working on the herb farm. dries beautifully, we used it in many o' wreaths. fabulous shoes as well! ;)

Oh. Those. Shoes!

The shoes! The shoes!! swoon...

oh my goodness those SHOES!!! how you do keep from staring at your feet all day? They are so scrumptious!!!

heeheehee...giggling from reading all of the shoe envy. :o)
They are soooo cute!
You have fabulous shoe sense. love the folds in them.

about the barrettes...I was just discussing the finer points of barrettes with my 16 year old daughter...i LOVED the thick birghtly colored Goody barrettes when I was a child.
Where have they all gone? all there is now are the el cheepo ones that the little clasp breaks...not the thick, brightly colored special shaped goody ones....
I digress...

cheerful post...thanks!
Lori

Oh boy...do I ever LOVE your shows too...wish I had a pair just like those :) You make me smile every morning and inspire me to see beyond the craziness of my life with two girls and be a better mom. Thank you.

yay for shoes!! (and pretty yellow weeds!)

Those shoes are adorable!

LOVE the hair clip!

Tansy. Prolific weed! But pretty.

Happy Belated Birthday to you and your little girl. It's birthday month at our house, too. One at the beginning, middle and end, so our party never stops!

More shoe envy here.

In Knut Hamsun's classic norwegian novel GROWTH OF THE SOIL, Isak uses tansy leaves to wash himself before he visits Inger.
Ah... love :)

lovely bits of yellow. :) see you soon amanda!! xo

LOVE the shoes!

Where did you get them??

Or, who makes them...?

-liza

Cute shoes. Suddenly I am in the mood for Spring.

perfect shoes... sweet hubby of yours! happy birthdays to you and your babe!

Love those shoes!

Those shoes are great!!! I love seeing your photos of shoes. I hate the photos they post on shoe websites. . .they don't even show feet in the pictures! I don't want to know what a shoe looks like on a white background, I want to know what it will look like on a foot relaxing in the grass! Now I have another pair of shoes I plan to copy from you! Thank you!

LOVE the shoes. I have been eyeing that exact pair since you posted that link a week or so ago.

I love love love love love those shoes. Ok, I think you get the point. I want a red pair.

One of the sweet little local names for Tansy around here is 'Bitter Buttons'...just rolls off the tongue doesn't it? And, yes, I must hop on the bandwagon of shoe love. Bravo, Steve.

yummy!

Yay for Yellow!!! You got your b-day shoes, too!!! I listened to your podcast on CraftSanity- beautiful Amanda!! Thank you for sharing your life with us!! <3
