out walking
Some sights from a walk this week. More snow arrived last night (making the Old Port absolutely beautiful for Merry Madness), and more is headed our way tomorrow. We have every intention of hunkering, playing, and cozying on into a wintry holiday weekend.
Wherever you are, and however white - or not - it is outside your door, I hope your weekend is a cozy one!

i love that pic of your sons outside in their cold weather gear. it reminds me of my boys.

Great shots of the inbetween time as the seasons shift...still leaves falling, but snow falling as well. Stay warm and happy weekend to you all!

Thank you for the kind wishes, Amanda. I love to get up early and do my blog post then check out your beautiful writing and photos every morning. Your lovely blog is inspiring to me every day. And at the moment I'm very jealous of your snow! Have a great weekend.

Wow the snow looks amazing! We are currently sitting in a comforable 24C here in Oz. The holidays for us is hot, sweaty and wven hotter when the ovens are on!
How lovely it would be to have a white Christmas! For us they are predicting a wet Christmas! - which would be the best present of all for the farmers as we are in a hard drought.
Thank you for sharing such beautiful photos with us!

How nice to see snow pictures! Here in the South it is very warm and the northerner in me rejoices in the sights of Christmas' of my youth.

Oh for the chance to put skis on end in the snow. Portland really does sound like Winter Wonderland. xxx

We share the same weather system here in Vermont. We will be settled in for cozy fires and hot chocolate all weekend ;o)

Hi, one of our favourite winter books to add to your list is 'First Snow' by Kim Lewis. And another one you must find for your little ones is 'Once There Were Giants' by Martin Waddell and illustrated by Penny Dale - a lovely book about a little girl growing up - I can't read it without getting a lump in my throat.

We think it's cold, but this is where people come to escape winter! I need to appreciate our circumstances, but snow looks like so much more fun than manicured lawns and ice-plants.

Those photos are beautiful, they make me want to bundle up and go for walk myself.

as a matter of fact, this past week has been in the high 70's, but it is supposed to get quite chilly this weekend (thank goodness :)

How many inches do you guys have so far? We're thrilled that southern Wisconsin already looks like your wonderland this year.

Our woods and weather are so similar here in Nova Scotia. We too are waiting for that storm, which will come to us when it's finished with you!
Halifax is a very green city but I do miss having a "backyard" of wild woods and birch trees!

So envious of the fact that other people experience Seasons! Florida is lame in that way... we have a saying here, there is only two seasons: hot and hotter.
Beautiful pictures. Really makes me want to move North.

very inspiring pictures! I love all of them. I'm especially fond of the picture you took over the weekend of the vintage print of a city building with the reflection of the Xmas tree. COOL! Thanks for blogging. I'm new to yours. I do look forward to the next post.

LOVE your blog! SO many things brought back SO many memories! Thank you so much for documenting your life with your lovely family... it's wonderful seeing your children making crafts with you, what a tremendous gift to give your children. Lovely job, I'm actually a bit envious, but in a good way!
