Hiding

(at Gram's house)

Inspiring:
Mom's World - One of my favorite Flickr photosets. Some of the more 'everyday' shots are especially wonderful.

Beautiful pic !love the doors and everything in this shot..... it reminds me of my Grandmothers house.

That looks like such a Grandmother's house. I think it's the wallpaper which many of us no longer use.

I am really loving your pictures which have served as a reminder that even though my little one is almost 9 that I should take as many pictures as a I did when she was smaller.

I also LOVE Mom's World. I saw it a long time ago and spent quite a bit of time looking over the again and again.

Thanks for the reminders!!

a contrast here: the austerity, darkness with the cross on the wall in the back bedrrom broken by the wonderful move of your son hiding behind the door playing... two worlds put together.... very intense and different from all the colorful , fun other work....

Wow, an amazing picture. It says so many things at the same time.

What an awesome house!

So much like my grandmother's house was. How I treasured that place where not so much as an ashtray had been re-positioned since about 1957...

Thankyou for that link - great stuff...and the photo - somehow dark and happy at the same time.

thank you so much for that link to mom's world - I'm new to flickr and had never seen it before - I anticipate spending many hours later (when I leave work) going through every photo. Imagine having that sort of record of your parents life. Wow. Thanks

love your photo too - it's very enigmatic

fantastic. fantastic. fantastic.
oh my gosh, this one is so much fun.
and i love the details of their gram's house - the glassdoorknobs, the heavy doors, the funky doorstop, and yes the wallpaper. love it.

What a beautiful house. I'm off to look at the link now - thank you!

I've been reading your blog for about 9 months, and always leave inspired. Your everyday photos have left me sooo wistful as my babies are 9, 12 and 15. And you have captured not only the moments but the emotions of having little ones. And it was the little foot in the nursing photo that really tugged at my heartstrings. Thanks for sharing.

Gorgeous picture! And thank you for sharing that link, those pictures and the story behind them are amazing :) It makes me wish that my parents would have taken more photos of our family when I was growing up. I have made up my mind that my children will not be wishing the same.

I'm enjoying all your photographs. I'm also enjoying going back and reading old posts from before I'd discovered your blog. I'm still in awe over the over-the-knee socks you posted a picture of (last winter, I think) -- I think my life would be complete if I could make those and wear them every single day.

Even in the summer.

Killer wallpaper - is this the same house which had that wonderful yellow patterned paper too??

Uh wait I just seen your flickr comment ;-)

I just love Grandmother's homes. My Grandmother also had excellent taste in wallpaper. I wish I had taken the time to learn from her how to pick it. I can't seem to go past tan walls.

Another wonderful shot. It's so sweet and captures the fun and joy of childhood. I can almost feel the giddy joy of playing hide and seek from this picture...makes me want to play! Thanks again for always inspiring!

Oh. My. God. that wallpaper is fantastic!
I am loving these photos... kudos!

Lovely pic and wallpaper. Great link. I clicked on the happy woman with her apron and cooking and got even happier when I saw that it was from my town. :>

It looks like a still from a movie scene. So wonderful.

Ah, grama's house. My grandparents have lived in their house for 57 years & I have such incredibly strong associations with it. Like the particular squeak of the utensil drawer when it's pulled out or the feeling of sitting on the heating grate in 'our' bedroom upstairs. Those old, steady houses that don't change are such a gift. As are the lovely people who live in them.

oh I just love this! All your photos in this project have been truly inspiring, just what I needed! xo

Love it! Love it!

"Mom's World" is fantastic! Thanks for discovering and sharing. Color photos are always so rich in heightening your senses, but black and white makes you stop and really look at the details of the picture to capture the essence.

When I was little I was *Gramma's Girl*.
Loved being at Gramma's house..watching t.v. with Grampa, Gramma's peanut butter and banana sandwiches and just the reassurance that Grandma was there.
Lori

Your blog makes me want to rush home, blow the dust from my NIKON and snap away at all the neglected details of life.

Thanks for posting.

Addicted Sarah.

dude. what is it with kids and hiding behind doors? my oldest will stand behind the bathroom door when he yells at me to come wipe his booty and i have to be careful not to rush in because otherwise BAM! doorknob in the nose.

i love gram's house by the way. lovely.

Ok, that photoset is a serious gem. Love you for linking it -

Amanda, your pictures are so beautiful--I just scrolled back through the 15 so far--the colors, the angles, the evocations.

Thank you for your work (play?) and sharing your blog with us!

Those doors spell mystery to me. I suppose it's because I spent the first six years of my life in an old house with doors like that.
