Packing...and mentally and physically preparing to be wicked cold for a couple of days. We're heading up North to the woods for a little winter camp adventure - the wish of my seven year old (!!) birthday boy. I'll resume my 30 days - and hopefully be thawed out - by Friday.

oh, have a wonderful time! calvin is a kid after my own heart - i always begged to head back up to the adirondacks in the winter. it's so lovely that you embrace his adventurous (albeit chill-seeking) spirit - happy 7th birthday! wishing you all a wonderful trip with many many campfires in the snow.

Oh! This is so exciting to me because that's the same wish of this 22 year old for her own birthday next weekend! Although, all of our camp gear is still at our old apartment, so if we don't have time to make the trip out to gather it, we might just go on a long winter hike instead.
Hoping for good weather for you guys, it's been in the negatives our here! Can't wait to see photos.

I miss the wicked cold back home! We've lived here for 10 years, and there is never enough snow.
Plus, I get laughed at for prefacing nouns with the word "wicked". Heh heh.

Have fun and stay warm! And be sure and put the rain fly on the tent!!! The one time I went winter camping with my best friend, when we were in college, we decided to leave the fly off so we could see the moon and stars. BAD IDEA. It was 0 degrees F. that night. Without the fly, we couldn't keep our warmth in the tent. I didn't have a great sleeping bag and I just froze my b*tt off all night. It was misery and I haven't tried it since. Maybe someday, with better equipment and better sense. Lisa in MN
