Working on the manuscript, eating leftover cake, and smiling at the note Calvin slipped under the door.

Happy Weekend to you!

Cake. Again??? Stop woman while you are still young enough STOP you have your whole flab free life ahead of you!

:P

Hey Cool Mama,
So, is it 3:10am...or...3:10pm? Either way, cake is good anytime! The apple spice cake went fast here the other day!
-Happy weekend!

The glass of water is THE healthy part of chocolate cake eating...
Have a good guilt free week-end!
A bientot,

Cool Mama = Soule Mama. Sweet.

Lila, I thought maybe the photo was from last night and the water was wine. Cake and wine, a perfect pair.

Maybe you should change the name of your blog to "Cool Mama". That is a very very sweet note!

I agree with Calvin's sentiment. I rarely read the archives when I discover a blog, but I have read yours in entirity. Can't wait for 4/1 and the release of your book. You inspire this mama daily!

so sweet! (the cake and the note, hehe)

Cake makes everything better, doesn't it? :)

cool mama = cool calvin.

Ah, the sweetest kind of love letter! Nothing like a piece of (chocolate)cake to power your brain!

Happy weekend to you, too, Amanda!

mmmmm cake!

lot of lovin over there.

I too was wondering if it was 3:10 am or 3:10 pm. LOL. I love this blog!

Very cool. :) I wonder if my kids think I am "cool"... hmmm.

this is a great photo. enjoy amanda! xox

I wish my husband would occasionally take pics of what *I* do. Some day it would be nice to look back and see what clues my desk held. Maybe not today, though...

must be in the air.... just cooked a yummy chocolate and almond cake from nigel slater's receipe book for all kids coming tomorrow for dinner.... meanwhile all loooking at it..i think it might just not last until then...hope you are not too fed up with re reading all the manuscript....keep going amanda........

Ah, love notes from kids. Doesn't really get any better than that!

love this one

We have the exact same vintage clock!

I must say ... I love your yellow and white striped tee. That just doubles your cool!

i agree about the stripes Meg.
your cake is making me want to try out my mom's chocolate mayonnaise cake recipe I grew up on.
so moist....
have a great weekend too Amanda.
Lori

hiiii cooool mama! Love it. Hmmm, I think I need cake now.

You are a cool mama. With a great clock.

Love the idea of photo journaling 30 days... I think I will copy your creative idea! I am new to unschooling and have LOVED reading your blog to inspire me!

who could ask for anything more...? <3

lovely clock on the wall.

happy weekend.

:-)

isn't it fun being the cool mama?

a smile can brighten any moment,
a hug puts joy in all our days,
love will stay with us forever
and touch our lives in precious ways...

Beautiful keepsake....keep typing. I was looking at the excerpt of your first book. It sounds great. I can totally relate to finding that special spot in nature.
Krista

Oh yes cake! I can't wait to get little notes from my little one!

very sweet- I'm digging the yellow striped shirt...

a great sign to help you keep going. we all can't wait to see what you are working on--though the pictures have been lovely.

yes, you are a supremely cool mama!

just listened to your interview on craftsanity last night. very inspiring. i'm glad jennifer asked you about the criticism of some blogs - that they present a too perfect vision of life. i often find myself feeling somewhat inadequate and when perusing the blogs of wonderful folks like yourself. hearing that you've had yoru share of challenges reaffirms for me that it is possible to find joy and beauty in life amidst the chaos. i feel more inspired to try and inject creativity into my ramshackle life with young children. thanks!

Hey, which manuscript is this? "Creative family" is already written no?

Heather & Karen Travels -

3:10 PM - I stay up late, but not THAT late. ;)

Sasha -

Yes - The Creative Family is long 'done' - it will be released April 1st. This is the manuscript for my second book that I'm working on now. I wrote a little bit about it here:

Love the note! Those are what it is all about. I never realized that you have red hair until this picture (you often have on a hat; or I am just really unobservant). me too. Cool, and a red head - pretty special.

Madeline -

Thank you! And - You're not unobservant. My hair just changes color a lot. ;) Not sure why. Maybe it has something to do with my best friend being a wonderful colorist. Hee. Red is fun. ;)

I love when your people make you feel good for being you. very nice!

oh, i love that.

How SWEET! Love your photos and am enjoying the journey along w/you and your lovely family. All my best, Kathy!

How very sweet.

I get it. You have to eat cake to keep from EATING THOSE ADORABLE CHILDREN OF YOURS. My god they're edible.

Hi,
I know this super clock on your wall, have seen it today in an etsy-shop that sells vintage goods, but I did forget which one it was.

One of my most favorite pictures this month, I love the clock and the wall, the cake and the way your hand rests on your leg...It makes me feel still. Peaceful.

That is the sweetest, cutest note ever.

Thanks so much for sharing your life with us, Amanda. I am not a frequent commenter, but reading about your family and your art projects has been such a pleasant, warming experience for me.

Happy 3rd Blogaversary :-)
Soulemama.
I decided to stop lurking & send my encouragement.
I LOVE your blog & read it every few days...I am very inspired!!
Thank you for your openess & honesty.
Lissy
