a march weekend in maine
March, Outside:
March, Inside:
We had a pretty little storm this weekend. I spent much of it with embroidery hoop in hand, stitching away. I'm fairly certain that at the end, my stitched french knots inside might have rivaled the fallen snowflakes outside. If only Calvin did invent that snowflake - counting machine this winter, we could be sure.
As a result of all that snow and all that stitching, I'm happy to tell you I'll be having a Shop Update this week. Wednesday, March 19th, at 12pm EST.
Wishing you a sunny (inside or outside) Monday!

how lovely! that's kind of what it's looking like outside right now. hmmm. must break out some embroidery then. everything looks lovely as always amanda!

(( happy week to the Soule family ))

Great. But do you mean "March" instead of April 19? :)

Yes, yes, I meant March! Thanks for catching that, ladies. I guess I'm trying to rush to spring. ;)

how i long for snow. we didn't get any again this year. i love the quiet outside and how everything just stops. more, i love the coziness of outside. things stop in here as well -- no time for anything except hot cocoa, bread, fire. maybe next year for us but, lucky you, enjoy!
hey, i love that robe!!!! maybe this time i'll make the shop update in time!

As always, I love your posts and pictures.
We would love a little snow, alas we suffered hail and tornadoes this weekend.
I was lucky with just debris in the yard.

Your home looks so sunny and warm inside. I'm amazed when I hear about how much snow some you've had this year.

winter outside, spring inside: Here as well - I have the lovely smell of hyancinths around me, and all the crafting out of my hands automatically has a flowery theme....

It's like that here in Vermont too! :)

Wow - I always love your photos. That window gave me such a heart-tug. We had a window like that in the house I grew up in, with all those little panes around the center one. Ours was full of crazy colored wavy glass though, so I like yours better. :)

Oh my goodness, all that snow! Hang in there, spring is right around the corner, right? Those yellow walls look so sunny. Can't wait to see what pops up in the shop!

You are a breath of fresh air on a Monday afternoon. I look forward to reading about life in Maine every day!
I wish you had the sunshine and gardening weather we had in Jersey this weekend! It was a spectacular treat on Saturday!

Not much green in Maine! Happy St. Paddy's Day anyway!!! :)
Oh- and I'm creating my own sunny world inside too.

Hi Amanda - I am going to be on a plane right when your shop opens - is there any way you can give me a mini preview of what there will be so I can have my husband on the lookout for some specifics. It's a big task to entrust to him so hopefully he'll rise to the occasion. I was too late last time and everything was sold out!
Thanks!

first is NOT a quuestion mark... :)

yay for the shop update! you rock!
and the yellow bathroom is so great for days when it's all yucky brown sludge outside!

I've been toying with the idea of painting our guest room yellow, but was worried it would look odd with all the dark antique furniture. I kept envisioning white woodwork to go with the yellow. Now that I see your beautiful mirror against the yellow walls, I'm convinced it will look beautiful. Would you be so kind to tell me the brand and name of the paint? So far, I'm leaning toward Sherwin-Williams "Daffodil" (SW 6901) or possibly "Optimistic Yellow" (SW 690)). Thanks, Amanda!

I'm so envious of your stitch-time! The weather has warmed here and I spent my first weekend of many to come fighting weeds. Oh what I would do for a freak snowstorm and plenty of time with the hoops! Of course, I'd have to sacrifice my early peas and swiss chard...

Ohhh, I love these pics... I cannot even take how comfy that storm looks! I am not a crafter at all, but I love taking time out of my work day to check out all of your Maine goings-on. I did make a christmas ornament out of clothes pins this past holiday at a Crafternoon party..does that count? ;-)
Take care!

Vero -
you are welcome to do so, thank you!
isabelle -
I'm sorry! I don't have anything photographed yet. I'm a last minute kind of gal. ;)
Les in NE-
It's Straw Hat by Behr. I love it soooo much in the natural light, but with my bathroom lighting at night, it's a little harsh. Test it out for sure.

By contrast her in Melbourne, Australia we're in our 4th day at the 40C mark. Some in the northern hemisphere may be reading for spring and a goodbye to cold, but I can tell you that here we're calling to autumn and winter, inviting them in.
Thank you for your sharing your lovely family with so many of us. I know you realise how lucky you are, for your love and warmth and that for your family comes through in all your posts. I wonder if you really appreciate how much you inspire others and how we look for a little of what you achieve in our own lives.

I can't believe you still have snow.. its so unfair. Not even a sprinkle all winter here in Devon. Hummph. Looking forward to the shop update!

I love the yellow of your bathroom. The perfect shade of sunshine.

Lovely pictures! Here no snow but rain and storm. I hope spring will come soon, outside and not only inside the house!
Good luck with your book ^.^

That photo of the branch with snow on it? It looks like a skeletal bird. Complete with open beak and little clutching "hands" coming in for a landing.
