When it's April and this is going on outside, I think there's only one option of what to do inside:
Ignore it and the shoveling that could be done (it will melt); remember that this is indeed spring (it is Maine, after all); and dig your hands in the dirt. Seed starting soil at the kitchen table will do just fine.
{This year, our seeds are coming from Johnny's Seeds, FEDCO, High Mowing Organic, Seeds of Change, and Baker Creek. (Yes, I had big intentions in February. And judging by the number of seeds I have, I must have intended to start a beet farm.) My favorite, always-nearby, forever-soiled garden bible is The Garden Primer by Barbara Damrosch. And that handy little gadget in the photos below is my new soil block maker - a new and exciting toy in our house this year.}
