SouleMama: What have you all been up to lately?
Alyssa: In the 4 or so months since our last give away, life has become very full. Dave and his wife, Andrea welcomed a baby boy in December. He's their third child, and first son. Our whole family is in love with Elias and we all try to wait patiently for our turn to snuggle/burp/gaze at him. This makes 6 grandchildren in 5 years for my parents, so family gatherings are taking on a whole new feel. It's loud and crazy and lots of fun for all of us.
2012 also brought some exciting new experiences for us professionally. We were excited to be a part of the action at the Squam Art Workshops last June, and were flattered to be chosen to attend the NorthernGRADE Men's All American Pop-up Market in September. It feels good to be a part of the handmade and local manufacturing community, and we are so thankful for all of the people who see value in what we have to offer.
SouleMama: Do you have any other news to share?
Alyssa: Dave is still hard at work perfecting his boot design. We're on target to have the boots for sale on our website by this coming fall. It sounds a long way off, but these things take time. He's been wearing his pair around and they're looking great. He's done a nice job making a chukka style with a definite Aurora Shoe slant. I can't wait to share them with you the next time we're featured!
SouleMama: Tell us about your customers.
Alyssa: We feel lucky to be in a business that fosters a real and personal connection with our customers. Almost every shoe order comes in with a pair of foot tracings, and many include personal notes, drawings and various other clues about the people connected with them. We're thinking about a way to permanently display our collection of tracings. It's such a unique feature of our business, and one that we really enjoy.
