This week, in my kitchen, I have...
:: watched the empty mason jars pile up before my eyes.
:: enjoyed, and then mourned the end of most of the preserved tomato goods, save for the all-important ketchup and salsa (thank goodness).
:: cooked up a family favorite - smoky corn chowder - more than a few times, with much thanks to the bacon supply that feels neverending (in the best of ways).
:: appreciated all the garlic! and the soap! Both piled so high on my pantry shelf and sure to last as long as I need it to. Perhaps I should just become a soap-making garlic farmer?
:: celebrated, belatedly, a birthday with a gaggle of very hungry twelve year old boys (is it a gaggle? a herd?).
:: made our pulled pork twice for two different potlucks. Shh.... (I do it kind of like this.)
:: helped Harper perfect his oatcakes.
:: made a great deal of popcorn and hot cocoa for those returning in from the cold.
:: prepared February's popcorn of the month for you (coming soon, I promise. The month isn't over yet.)
:: photographed (and ate) the delicious ferments and beautiful handwork of friends for our upcoming Gathering.
:: was inspired to get out my crock and put it to use once again.
:: walked around - and have not stubbed my toe yet on - the two fifty gallon drums sitting in the middle of the room - thawing out, getting cleaned up and ready for sap storage.
:: danced, sang, laughed, cooked, cleaned, and shared many moments of family togetherness - loud and quiet, both.
It's a busy place, this kitchen of ours!
