The pattern is the bubble dress by oliver + s, a very favorite pattern of mine. I always think of it as a summery, beachy kind of dress though, perhaps due to the summers in which these dresses were what Adelaide wore constantly (look at her, tiny little thing that's now almost eight years old, oh my!). But we recently had a little friend visit here wearing this same dress layered for winter - with tights and in flannel. Brilliant! My favorite baby girl summer dress could be a wintry dress too. With woolen underthings and knit longies, yes! This one is made with Anna Maria's flannel and no doubt will fit her now all the way through spring and be ready to go for next fall and winter and maybe even the one after that.
Upon thought, perhaps all this making things too big could be my way of getting the longest use of the handmade clothing.... or it might just be how I trick myself into thinking they're not growing precisely as fast as they really are. Hmn. There may be something to that, but I'm going to roll with it. Oh, sweet baby girl. Growing is all wonderful - every step of the way - but we needn't rush. You just take your time filling out that dress, okay?
