This weekend, we boiled late into the night. And with that, all the goodness of the start of spring around us. Sunbathing cats, the discovery of the first flowers, lots of baseball, hatchet-wielding and bicycles. The badminton net was set up and poles pushed through the muddy earth. We felt the sun on our faces, and the wind whipping through. We took eggs from the pasture and put them right in the boiling sap many times through the day for a hard boiled egg snack. There was a lot of mud, and a lot of fun. And some very tired children (and adults) at the end of the full day. It is, after all, hard work to watch (maple) water boil! And all to be rewarded this morning with the most delightful maple sryup on our breakfast pancakes. Ah! Spring is here!
