This issue! Oh goodness, Issue 21::WEAVE is just plain awesome, I'm not even going to try to be subtle about that belief. The first issue of our sixth year, with the first of our 2017 covers by Lisa Congdon leading the way with such bright joy. (Truly, for months I've been looking at that cover now and it's made me smile so often.) And then inside, is our craftiest issue yet (more on that soon), surrounded by the words and wisdom of so many I admire. That there is a piece about Wendell Berry's prose turned song (including sheet music for you to use) AND a piece about Tasha Tudor by her family (including Tasha's art).....um, dream come true duo for me right there....in the very same issue!
Perhaps you're a subscriber, so I don't want to give too much away about this issue. And if you're not, head on over to Taproot to purchase, subscribe or dig a little deeper into this issue. It really is a good one, and was such a dream to put together. As you might have picked up, I'm finding so much satisfaction and joy in the work of putting these pages together, even more so than ever as I think we all need independent publishing, advertising free spaces, and journals committed to finding the ways we can connect with one other, the earth, and ourselves. I pinch myself frequently that this is really one of the things I get to do with my days. (And on that note, if you're interested in joining us, Taproot is hiring in the Portland, Maine area...that's right, Portland! Check out the website for more details and to apply.)
And... because it's Monday morning and I'm feeling the excitement of a new week and a new issue of Taproot, I would love to share a little of that with you. How about an old fashioned giveaway? Enter a comment in today's post to have a chance at a 2-year subscription to Taproot (or extension of your current sub), PLUS two skeins of the beautiful Stone Wool yarn needed to make the Quill Hat (by Andrea Mowry) featured in this issue. I'll close comments on Wednesday at noon and announce the randomly chosen winner here.
Cheers to you all this Monday morning! And always, thank you for your support in this journey!
