Here we are on the latter half of August in a summer that's been, well, unlike any I can remember here in New England. It's been a strange season. But for all the rain, and the very small crops (these might be some of our only tomatoes - late blight is everywhere), there are indeed some. Some tomatoes, some sun, some summer left to be lived.
With that on my mind and the calendar in my sight, I want to savor what is. I want to sink right on into these remaining days of summer. I want to say yes to every beach day that I possibly can. I want to pick, eat and love every tomato, cucumber or bean that might grow. I want to drop everything and just GO whenever there is a call for evening picnics, music by the lake, beachside gatherings, berry picking adventures, poolside fun, forest jaunts, friendly BBQ's, and nights spent under the stars.
I will, with all of my heart, say YES to all of that, savoring the bounty and beauty of summer that is now.
I'd love to take you along for the ride a bit as we ditch the plan and follow summer, so to speak. And I hope that you, too, are finding many, many opportunities to savor the season (whatever your season may be!).
