I love all the many little bits and pieces of paper that end up scattered throughout our home. Surely, there are boxes, and notebooks and journals and baskets where they 'belong,' but oh, they always spill over in all the flurry of work and play. I find paper everywhere - tucked into shelves and under tables, taped to walls and in the beds. Especially when I am tempted to think of them as clutter and they begin to annoy me, I try my best to pause, and see how wonderful they really are. How they are a record of our days right now.
I found this one tucked into the folds of the couch this week. Long after everyone was asleep, and the long day of parenting was done, this brought such a smile to my face. I love that Ezra's planning his Halloween costume in July. I love that such a task required making a list. I love that he's planning on being his hero du jour - Davy Jones (last year, he was David Bowie!), and I love that he pays attention to all the important details like just how much blush to apply.
After I made sure he was 'done' with his list, I promptly tucked it inside the pages of a book to maybe be discovered later. I am certain that if I do find it again in the years to come, it will bring with it a clear and true flood of all that's going on in my little man's world right now - funny, silly little family moments and details that center around a seven year olds love affair with a band from forty years ago.
