SouleMama: What's new with Hip Mountain Mama?
Suzy: We recently celebrated our 2 year anniversary and are happily looking forward to many exciting things in the future. We have been asking our friends, customers, and fans what they wanted to see more of in our store and we were told to carry more items for women. We have recently added many new handmade clothing items for women. Many of these handmade skirts, dresses, pants, and blouses are made with recycled vintage clothing or organic cotton. We are very excited about these and our expanding women's clothing section.
SouleMama: What does a typical day at work look like for you?
Suzy: Well, running a business while caring for my two daughters is tough work. It seems that almost every day is different. I am always juggling a kid in my arms while answering emails. I schedule time each morning for a meditation which really helps me stay centered. The nice thing about an online business is that the work can be really flexible around the rest of my day.
SouleMama: How has motherhood changed the work that you do?
Suzy: Motherhood has significantly changed the work I do. Before I had my children I was happily working outside the home. It was my kids who gave me the desire to work at home and it is motherhood that inspired me to research and become passionate about natural parenting, organics, and natural products. It is the love of my children and desire to improve the world for them that led me to this crusade to promote natural and sustainable products.
SouleMama: Where do you go to recharge?
Suzy: I always feel recharged in nature. I like to go for hikes in the forest, sit by the river, or skip stones in a lake. My husband and I try to squeeze in a hike once a week and we often spend weekends exploring the mountains. These regular family outings keep us all recharged and connected to nature.
