In just a few short days, these tiny little toes and the not-so-tiny (but always tiny) tow-headed little boy attached to them will turn two. Two!
(eight weeks old)
I just finished this pair of socks for him. (He likes to try them on as I go.) I used the Most Basic Kids Sock (pattern available for free on Ravelry). The yarn is Classic Elite Yarns Alpaca Sox, and it's the very same skein I used for the pixie hat I made right after he was born, and seen above. Oh goodness. Time.
In my heart it was just yesterday that Harper entered our family and our hearts, quietly and quickly nestling right in as though he had always been right there, right here. With us. In the middle of us. And that's the thing about this little boy, this fourth baby of mine. Sometimes I think it is he who holds the heart of everyone in the family, as he is so very doted upon and loved and adored and spoken up for by each and every one of us. Just like that very first day he was born. Just like today.
He is a boy of few words (why speak when there are so many to do it for you?), and such shyness outside of the world of the six of us. When one of us is away from the rest, he knows it instantly and wants to know just when they are coming back. He is the happiest when we are all together. When he can run from one set of arms to the other to the other to the other and to the other...and giggle, and bat his sweet eyelashes, and smile his sheepish grins. I think he knows we love him.
