SouleMama: What inspired you to start your business?

Stubby Pencil Studio: The giveaway for this month is a perfect connection to how Stubby Pencil Studio came about. It all started with a thank you note!

In 2006, my twin daughters had just turned two-years-old and we needed to send thank you notes for birthday gifts. I shopped around for cards that the girls could participate in the process, but nothing seemed to fit. I printed some cards with images for the girls to color on the front and I wrote the note inside. Everyone who received the cards loved them, and I had several friends that wanted to place orders. Over time, I designed a bunch of Color 'n Kids cards themes, but thank you notes are still the most popular.

 

We hear over and over how important it is to send thank you notes, yet very few children do so. It can be alot of fun and it's easy when you have cards and supplies on hand. Children enjoy coloring and parents can make it fun for them to learn to express thanks. Now that my girls are older, there are many more options for sending thank you notes - they love to use stickers and draw their own pictures and it's more a fun activity than a chore. With the holidays coming up, there will be several opportunities to send thank you notes - it's a great way to spend time together as a family and focus on blessings and gratitude.
