right now, I am ...
:: wanting just a little more sleep after the ten-year old dance party that happened here yesterday for Calvin's birthday. With records spinning by DJ Ezra, It made this Mama's heart proud that Cyndi Lauper was in the mix with Justin Bieber.
:: loving the cheery dots I see running around the house right now on the bathrobe I made the birthday boy. (The pattern is McCall's M6225. The print is a flannel by Amy Butler, purchased at Alewives. It's a really lovely quality flannel, I think...perfect for something like this.)
:: wondering in that Mama-sort-of-way, just how it is that ten years have passed, blessed with this boy in our lives. Hello double digits, here we are.
:: thinking about the wonderful things I could do with that pretty skein of yarn. (From Rosa Pomar) Something for baby. I think I'll start today.
:: feeling grateful for sunny lemons arriving from far away and a stack of newly thrifted bowls...just when we were down to our last three (oh, that silly tile kitchen floor).
:: enjoying the new Decemberists album so much (with Gillian Welch on it too!). If there aren't any objections (though there will be), I think we shall listen to it all day long.
:: smiling at how frequent and strong the baby kicks are these days. What's he building in there? (No, I don't know that it's a boy...I'm just nodding to Tom Waits this morning.)
:: shivering just a tiny little bit. It's windy and ten degrees below outside right now, and I can't bring myself to tell you what it is inside (it will only worry our mothers). Time for another layer of woolens.
:: rejoicing that Steve did the outside morning chores and will more than likely - if I ask nicely - do evening ones too.
:: planning a day spent fireside, keeping warm and cozy and likely very busy alongside the ones I love.
:: wishing you a beautiful Monday, and a lovely start to your week!
