SouleMama: What inspired you to start your business?
Steph: While I was pregnant, I was searching for eco-friendly, non toxic, organic and otherwise safe items for my expected little one but I had a really hard time differentiating between truly green products and those that were just dressed up in a box with a green leaf on it (green washing). I wanted to create a place where families know the entire shop is earth friendly and all the items are hand picked by myself so shopping was a streamlined experience especially with shipping to your front door.
SouleMama: What's your favorite part of your job? The most challenging?
Steph: My favorite part of my business is talking with customers, especially ones that really 'get' what I'm trying to do and love the products I've found to sell as much (or almost as much!) as I do. I love it when a mom gives cloth diapering a try because of seeing the diapers and hearing my experience as well- and converts to cloth diapers. The most challenging aspect is probably balance, or lack thereof, and working with a toddler 98% of the time. Thankfully, parents and grandparents are our main customers and love to hear Abby's little voice in the background.
SouleMama: Do you have a favorite inspirational quote?
Steph: You must be the change you want to see in the world Mahatma Gandhi
SouleMama: What's the product or offering you are most excited about in your shop right now?
Steph: Wooden toys, especially the classic ones, such as building blocks, yo-yos, and our hammer and pegs toy get me excited because I'm so happy to be able to provide them to families. Amber teething necklaces are another item I'm so thankful a customer requested into the shop because they are working wonders for Abby. Children's knitting sets and natural art supplies are fantastic too.
SouleMama: What inspires you?
Steph: There's nothing more amazing than seeing the beautiful things that our customers create with the yarn we sell and the huge craft blog network and sites like Ravelry have made it possible for people to connect and share hand crafted projects in a very special way that never ceases to provide inspiration.
