Today, I bring you a giveaway from SouleMama Sponsor Quince & Co. In Pam Allen's words:
"At Quince & Co., we sell our own line of yarn—sourced and spun in the US. The core of the line is wool yarn. Right now we have four weights/structure—from sport to chunky—and all come in the same 37 colors. Each yarn has its own personality—they are the same yarn with added plies to change weights. We also have a wool/tussah silk yarn in a fingering weight. And we’ll soon be adding an organic linen from Belgium."
You can find behind-the-scenes news and updates on the Quince & Co. blog.
SouleMama: How long have you been in business?
Pam: We’re still a new company, about 7 months old. But we’ve come a long, long way since we launched on July 6. We didn’t have internet service set up at the warehouse at that point and had to run to Starbucks to check on orders.
SouleMama: Where do you go to recharge?
Pami: Carrie Hoge and I are responsible for the creative end of things. Carrie has just had a baby. For the next few months - years! - she'll be recharging by taking time away from work to get to know little Imogen.
I like to hike in the White Mountains - no phone, no knitting needles, no deadlines. The rhythmic moves of hiking - the physical effort - help me to empty my mind of work-related things. At some point, I start to notice bark, roots, rocks, bird sounds and smells around me. Often by the time I'm coming down from a peak, I'm thinking about work again, but in a different way. Instead of going round and round on things, solutions to problems come easily and ideas for new yarns, colors, sweater designs, shoot locations - any kind of quandary, present themselves.
SouleMama: What's coming up next for Quince & Co.?
Pam: Although we want to continue to foster the American roots of our products, we can’t get everything we like here. We’re introducing an organic linen this spring. The fiber is certified and grown in Belgium; the yarn is spun in northern Italy.
