The release date is still just a ways off - August 9th, 2011.
It is available in some places for pre-order (Amazon and directly from the publisher Shambhala, among other places). l will have signed copies available in my Shop by the publication date as well (we'll talk more about that here as the release date gets closer). And of course, it will be in your local independent bookshops too.
The Rhythm of Family is a journey through the changing seasons and around a calendar year of family life. Through essays, photographs, craft projects, recipes and activities, this book was both a guide for and a reflection of the natural world and our connection to it - and each other - for the year in which we created it. It is our hope that it will serve as an inspiration in your own family lives to notice the small and ever-changing beauty of the world around us (wherever on this earth you may live), as those moments can connect us to our families and gently guide us through the rhythm of a year. And that through this 'noticing,' we can all strive for a simpler, slower and richer life.
It was a true joy to share the writing of this book with my co-author, Steve. Doing so was a dream come true for both of us, and a pleasure the whole way through (honest to goodness). I know you'll love his essays on family and nature; and I'm certain you'll also enjoy the contributions from some of my favroite crafty, nature-loving families (that you just might recognize from this beautiful blog community of ours!).
I'm so honored to once again have found our 'home' with Trumpeter Books/Shambhala Publications in the making of this book. Kudos to the design team (thank you, Daniel!) for so warmly bringing together all the elements of this book onto the cover (do some of you remember the story of Harper at the apple orchard that day?). And just wait until you see the inside pages! We're excited to show it to you!
Soon enough, this baby of ours will be ready to send off into the world. In just a few seasons to come...
