Today, I bring you a giveaway from SouleMama Sponsor This & That From Japan. In Lisa''s words:
"This & That From Japan is a cute little Etsy shop filled with Japanese fabric, craft books, stamps, bento supplies and clay molds and products. Great one stop shopping for crafters and sewers."
SouleMama: Some special words from Lisa, in Japan:
Lisa: As everyone knows Japan has suffered a terrible earthquake and tsunami on March 11 and now facing a nuclear threat. The devastation is unimaginable and the help sent from throughout the world has been so appreciated. People have lost families, homes, neighborhoods, villages, towns, and life as they have known it. We have seen photos of cars, trucks and buses on top of two story or three story buildings. But throughout this all the people remain so calm. There is no looting, fighting or burglary but a sense of calm and organization. Shelters have very little at this point and people are trying to make use of what they can find. All this with a nuclear leak and freezing temperatures as snow is predicted for today and the weekend.
The damage breaks our hearts, especially to see so many children looking for their parents in the tsunami trashed areas or grandparents caring for their grandchildren saying they don't know where there parents are. A lot of schools in Japan are built up on hills so luckily most of the schools were in session and escaped a lot of damage. Unfortunately a lot of parents were in low lying areas and are missing. For a large portion of my time in Japan, I worked in the public school system teaching children from pre-school to high school and even though I was the "teacher," they taught me more. I can't imagine what the children are going through.
I have donated to Save the Children Japan and ask for people to help in any way they can to any organization that is helping Japan. Even though Japan is a very developed and technologically advanced nation, there is not enough. $5, $10 anything helps. We are donating 15% of our sales to Save the Children Japan until further notice. We know that times are tough but anything helps.
Thank you to everyone who has sent messages to us. We are in southern Japan so life as we know it continues. Our shop is fine and because of our location we are not affected by rolling blackouts or postal delays.
We are donating 15% of our total sales to Save the Children Japan until further notice.
