Late last night, the power was restored, and the clean up declared mostly complete from our tiny little corner of the world. I"m feeling grateful this morning for...
a storm that passed without great harm or injury; the help and company of country neighbors; the folks working night and day around here to clean up trees and restore power; children who love reading, headlamps, and adventure; my habit of buying candles each time I go to the grocery store; what remains of my (rather beat up) garden; the discovery of the 'old' well in the barn, with which to feed the animals in a pinch; old family boyfriends with generators (yes, really); lessons learned for 'next time'; the luxury and ease of once again flushing the toilets and running the water (and feeding the animals) without effort; and being connected here with you again.
I'm hoping that you and those around you are safe and on the other side Irene now!
