It's August 22nd, friends. August 22nd! As present as I've tried to be, as "slowly" as we have lived this summer, I still find myself surprised by the date on the calendar.
~~~
We've been a little slack in making sure that our sweet little Stellaluna (the duck who thinks she's a chicken) has water to swim in every single day. But last week I made a promise to her that I'd fill that little pool of hers every single day until it freezes.
Then, I turned around and walked inside to my loves eating breakfast and made the same promise to them - and myself. What's left to do that we haven't squeezed (enough of) into this summer?
Steve and I have a list (a long list) of all the house/farm things that need to be done before the season ends. Full of things like stacking more wood, adding more insulation, putting up more fence posts. But - what about the ocean? We need more ocean, and picnics, and ice cream cones and oh, another list - a family list - was in order. One where every one of us (save Annabel) got to pick ONE very important summer thing to do.
The Soule Family Summer's-Almost-Over List:
Go to camp!
picnic oceanside
have a party!
"sit in Papa's boat" (preferrably in the water)
go to the candy shop (translated as: hit the Old Port)
go camping ("not in the backyard!")
It's time to get serious about summer. Before school starts, before the leaves fall. There's still time.
What's left to do on your Summer FUN List?
(And on that note, I've got a picnic to pack for...)
