Today, I bring you a giveaway from SouleMama Sponsor Woolen Moss Farm and Studio. In owner Kate's words:
"I have an Etsy shop, Woolen Moss, dedicated to quality handmade clothing made from all natural, low impact dyed, and organic materials. All designs are my own and reflect my ideals of wearing clothing that is both good for your body and good for your earth. Every body is unique and should move freely and with ease while wrapped in beautiful garments."
SouleMama: Tell us about your background. What path led you to the work you do today?
Kate: I began with a degree in sculpture, and after turning down copious amounts of job offers as a artist (ha!), I began sewing for a living. I did not start in the garment industry, but after always searching for free flowing, all natural clothing that fit who I was, it became clear what my next step was.
SouleMama: What does a typical day at work look like for you?
Kate: I get up in the morning and make breakfast and lunch for my son while my tea water boils. As he gets on the bus I pour my first cup of tea for the day (one of many). After walking the dog and filling water buckets for the sheep, I make my way onto the computer for updates, inspirations, communications and more. By 10 o'clock I hope to be in the studio for my 3 x 3. Three finished pieces by 3 o'clock. A finished piece can be an experiment or a finished product. It can even be an eye pillow for a friend or the completion of a new pattern. It just has to be an accomplishment. By 3 or 4 I'm generally back to the farm, the home, the family and life outside of fabric.
SouleMama: Is there a special place that inspires you?
Kate: The creek along the back of the property has been an inspiration for clothing, artwork, landscaping, and even tile work in our entryway. The sound of the water soothes me and its direction and energy moves me.
SouleMama: Do you have a favorite inspirational quote?
Kate: "It is better to live your own destiny imperfectly than to live an imitation of somebody else's life with perfection." -The Bhagavad Gita
