SouleMama: How long have you been in business?
Sarah: We have been a family business for 18 years. Some of our silks are still dyed in our laundry room, packaged and shipped out of our garage/studio! Our rainbow silks were the first on the market, as were most of our other products such as scapes, silk capes, silk canopies and more.
SouleMama: Do you have a favorite inspirational quote?
Sarah: "You can learn more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation" ~Plato
SouleMama: What's the product or offering you are most excited about right now?
Sarah: New for spring are our Pocket Playsilks. These are a fun open ended dress-up item. On each pocket is a fairy, unicorn or dragon. The pockets can be worn as belts, on the head, or hung up on the wall for tooth fairy exchanges.
SouleMama: How are your children incorporated into your work?
Sarah: Our children have grown up helping us in all areas of the business. Our oldest son, Josh (22), is now making our string games and cotton building cloths. My husband, Mike, is Chinese and feels a great connection to the silk farms, weavers and sewers in China. Our son Morgan, 11, is going with his dad to China this year. They will check on the women sewing our silks in a village near Sujzou, go to the silk farms, and look for new ideas.
