SouleMama: How long have you been in business?
Kate: I have just completed my first year. I can hardly believe it. I have learned so much in that time. I can't wait to see where Woolen Moss goes in the times to come. It feels as though it is getting better and stronger, day by day.
SouleMama: Tell us what you envision and dream for the future of your business.
Kate: I hope to some day find a way to engage in the cycle of giving back. I need to get my business on it's feet just a little more solidly, but then I hope to form a partnership that allows me to provide some opportunity for sharing the benefits of what I've created. There is just too much need out there to ignore. I'll be sure to update you on this as the plan unfolds in the coming years.
SouleMama: What artists/crafters/teachers have inspired your life?
Kate: I have been greatly impacted by the stories of both Blake Mycoskie of TOMS Shoes and Yvon Chouinard of Patagonia. I will not claim to be walking in the footsteps of either one of them, as they have created empires far beyond my aspirations. But their ability to do what they believe in with intention and consciousness has been a great inspiration to me.
SouleMama: How does the balance of family and work play out for you?
Kate: I have spent many years trying to figure out how to incorporate the variety of interests and passions I have. I feel blessed to have found that path while at the same time being able to stand on my front porch smiling when my son climbs off the bus every day. He sees me work hard, and he sees me be there for him when he needs me. I could not ask for a better place to be than that.
