Today, I bring you a giveaway from SouleMama Sponsor, Silk Oak. In Jan's words:
"Silk Oak offers original design cotton clothing, hand silkscreened in our studio in Ithaca, NY since 1977!"
SouleMama: What's new in your life and how does that affect your business?
Jan: This year marks the 35th Anniversary of me starting my first business! From the beginning, my businesses always focused on families with small children. It made sense since I had 2 small children at the time and it was an area that I not only had knowledge of but felt passionate about. Over the years, as my family continued to grow, I had a wider range of ages from little to teens. This June, the "Baby" of my 6 turned 21!! and, in a few weeks, my oldest will be 40! Wow, how did that happen?
Needless to say, after decades of small people to care for, lately, pickings have been pretty slim. Aside from the enjoyment I get from having little ones around, I find myself creatively inspired by their presence! It was my first 2 children that sparked my creativity and set me on a path that I never could have foreseen 35 years ago.
Which brings me to what's new this summer. My first Grandchild is due in 8 days (!) and Grandbaby #2 will follow 10 weeks later! I already find myself envisioning new things that I "need" to make for these new little people in my life, i.e.: Grandbaby #1's Momma only ate 2 vegetables when she was little- raw carrots and steamed artichokes! I already have a Carrot design. Don't you think this baby needs an Artichoke? Hmmm, stay tuned to see what's growing in the Silk Oak garden of designs!
