I do so love a crafty challenge. I'm also fairly forgiving to myself when said challenge ends up not working out as originally planned. Which means that I feel safe in setting one for myself now: a little something knit for all of my six peeps under the Solstice tree this year. Not sweaters for all, per se (I already did that!), but a little knitted something. Hats, sweaters, scarves...something that each of them needs or wants. I have two and a half months to do it in, which doesn't sound terribly impossible, does it? That's hardly even a challenge. So I'll toss in the twist of keeping it all knit entirely from my stash. Granted, I think it's a rather lovely stash, but a stash is full of 'leftovers and forgottens' nonetheless.

Which makes this little number the first of six. Starting with the smallest person might be falsely optimistic, but I'm running with it and calling it a motivational good start. The yarn is Beaverslide Dry Goods Worsted, in a heathered purple. Yes, it was in my stash, as it was originally intended for a sweater for my purple girl, miss Adelaide. Two days after the yarn arrived, however, she declared that black was her new favorite color and thus it has remained ever since. The pattern is the lovely In Threes (I made two for my nieces last year), a wonderfully smooth and fun knit. I love all the layering that can happen with this sweater - no cumbersome sleeves for a toddling baby, while still keeping the core of their little bodies warm. It's a good one, and I'm eager to give it to Annabel in December.
And, you? Have your needles begun clicking for the holidays?
