Standard time has returned, cool November weather is upon us, and the balance of our time appears to have officially shifted inside. The annual winter outergear try-on happened this weekend, and much to Mama's delight, there was something that fit everyone (c'mon Mamas, tell me that doesn't warrant a happy dance? Exciting stuff, I tell you).
Our at home days are beginning to find a comfortable rhythm that will carry us through the months ahead with books, art, games and new craft emerging as the overriding themes. I'm quietly watching what they're each drawn to these days, thinking up similar projects to tuck away for those days when someone needs a little inspiration, as we all do from time to time (hello, February, I'm talking to you). So far, I'm seeing a long of handwork by the middles, writing by the oldest, and doll play by the little. The ideas are brewing...
Such good and full days these are, that end in a messy pile of books read, art made, dolls and blocks played with, and tired children sleeping soundly. Two nights in a row now have found Steve and I sitting around the warmth of the fire, listening to the silence of the house or podcasts streaming, with book or knitting on our laps....and debris from the day strewn about. Seven Silly Eaters tucked under my leg, a baby doll at my side, a Scrabble piece in my knitting basket. The remains of our days.
