My Winterwoods Sampler recently found home in a frame and a spot on the wall, just in time for a little holiday decorating to happen around it. I enjoyed that stitching so much, and I most especially love that my children see stories woven into the linen. Such a delight.
My mind has been wandering to what cross-stitch goodness I can begin come January. Browsing Embroidery Companion, Anna Maria's Needleworks Notebook and Sweet Stiches from the Heart, I've got all sorts of ideas. (Plus, there was that day I was "working" in the library last week when I squirrelled away in a corner with a stack of vintage needlework books. Um, bliss.)
But first...this season we're in, with all the making we're excited about doing for each other. Adelaide continues ahead with a pile of stitched linen rapidly stacking up beside her. She's currently at work on these little stichable ornament samplers from Charlotte Lyons. Sweet, sweet designs, and the lines are just right for her practicing stitches.
And I, with a right hand that still doesn't want to knit, have been happily distracted with a left hand that can cross stitch just fine. At some point, I'm going to have to cut myself off from adding just one more little snowflake and actually sew this stocking up so that I can hang it alongside the others. But that's still a whole week away before I need to fill it, which leaves so many moments open for just a little more stitching.
