It is quite possible that I was ignoring both the calendar and the normal temperatures for this time of year when I created my handy dandy brooder schedule for the season. For the cold snap that is upon us has meant that even with all the doors closed and even with two heat lamps, the barn brooder is just far too cold for those little chicks before their feathers come in. And so, we have a makeshift brooder beside the woodstove. Yes, in my living room. In my living room that we share with five children. And as you might imagine...well, you can imagine.
They're all quite pleased.
