{Some new-to-me linens, courtesy of my mother-in-law, drying on the line.}
By the time this note publishes live to you, I hope I will be a few states south, long-since parked, and deep into exploring the goodness that is Brimfield Antique Show! (My trip in photos, last year.) I go, truly, for the eye candy. To stroll through the aisles of all those old and precious things, displayed in creative fun and interesting ways. For all the characters one meets at such a place. For the company of friends at my side, giggling at the silly sights, and haggling for me when I really need it (because really, I just can't do it). I go for a day alone! Oh so many good reasons to go to Brimfield, and the smallest of those, really, is what I come home with. This year in particular I am being quite mindful of how much I bring home...and where it will live....and what it will do for us. Scrolling back through the treasures of last years trip, I am so glad to see that every single thing I brought home is used by us nearly each day. The clothes rack, the napkin rings, the ironing board, the pillowcases on my bed right now, the vintage dresses my girl loves to wear (and cover in farm dirt). I am hopeful for the same results this year. Small things, useful treasures, everyday beauties. Nothing more, nothing less.
On my wish list? A new napkin ring for Ezra, serving spoons, more handkercheifs (there are never enough), a little something special for my baby girl's birthday this weekend, maybe a funky light fixture for my living room and well, we'll just see what happens.
...to Brimfield!
