Just a few more things to do this morning - assist in the shearing of one last sheep (the stand just arrived), write my babies each a letter (will Papa mind, you think, if I put a lollipop inside each one? Hmn...), find an umbrella (the rain's a comin', but that won't stop the fun), boil the eggs (I'm a breakfast creature of habit that I cannot leave behind), wind two more skeins of yarn (I'm optimistic), wait for the glue to dry on my I-hope-it-works booth display creation, and load up the rental car.
And then....then, I'm out the door and on my way to Squam Art Workshops! I am equal parts thrilled and nervous to be taking this trip solo, without any children, for the very first time. Wait, let me say that again - I'm going alone. (I still don't think that's sunk in!) And once there, I have great intention of much knitting (and maybe spinning - I still haven't decided if the wheel accompanies me or not), and visiting and laughing and sleeping (such a Mother, I am - I go away and most look forward to sleeping!). While there, I'll be doing quite a bit of work to get us ready for the upcoming September Taproot Gathering at Squam. But of course, there will be play too, in the form of some classes I'm taking with the likes of Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, Franklin Habit, and Stephen West. Oh, I can hardly wait for that inspired knitting and learning to begin. (In the class "Knitting for Speed and Efficiency," I've got a nervous feeling that Steph is going to insist I switch to Continental. I'm scared.)
If you are even close to the area of Holderness, New Hampshire, you should come on by for Saturday's festivities - open to everyone. There's an afternoon Ravelry Revelry celebration that looks to be a grand knitty affair (details here), and then Saturday night is the Art Fair with an amazing list of vendors (shoot - just added 'get cash, but not too much' to my before-I-go list). I'll be there, at the Taproot booth with my publishing partner, Jason Miller. Do say hello if you are there - we'd love to see you.
And in the meantime, as far as this space is concerned, I'm not really going anywhere at all, because I plan to bring you with me! Posting may be a little less consistent than usual, as I fit it in between all that knitting and sleeping, you know (ahem), but I'm excited to share some glimpses of the days with you through the weekend. And of course, there's Instagram, and oh - did I tell you that I'm joining the lovelies over at Habit this month? It's delightful in that space they've created and I always love spending some time there.
Goodness, I'm everywhere....but home (my favorite place to be). But it really is so good to get away, I have been long looking forward to this, and I know the return will be a sweet one. Off I go!
