Squam Lake, earlier this month
Oh, sweet summer! We so happily greeted my very favorite season this weekend with all things summery good - there was swimming in the lake, a party with friends, ice cream cones and watermelon, barefeet and sand. And the fun has only just begun - we have the whole season ahead of us with all sorts of adventures to come for big and small among us. Yes.
You'll have to forgive me if you've already heard this news through Elizabeth, or through Taproot....but I am excited to share it in my (web) home here with you. While I was at Squam earlier this month, we were busy with the work of this little video, and more than that, we were busy making all sorts of additions and extras to the lineup of a Taproot Gathering at Squam. Because the people? (As in - me, you, all of us!) We really, really want to knit. And knit, we shall. (In addtion to weaving, fermenting, baking, carving, stitching, dyeing, oh my!) The fiber classes are in now in even greater abundance - and the sewing too - with the likes of Stephanie Pearl McPhee, Cal Patch, Anne Hanson, and Gudrun Johnston now joining us. Throw in some new mixed media and weaving classes with Harriet Goodall and Susy Pilgrim Waters. All of that, on top of all the other great teachers we have lined up, and I think we shall call it a very, very good time with a whole lot of making to be done. (Oh - and we were talked into a Saturday night Art Fair too, so that party is a go for September! Be in touch if you'd like to be a vendor there). There's still a little time to register if you can join us for the Gathering, we'd love to see you there!
If summer were not my very favorite season of them all, I'd be wishing the days away until this Gathering. But summer. Oh, I do love every bit of summer. And so I shall soak it all in as fully as I can, with the promise that at the end of it, I'll be wrapping up the season and easing on into the next by the lake in New Hampshire, knitting needles in hand, carving spoon in my back pocket. (Well, you know what I mean.)
Wishing you and yours a very happy start to your Summer!
