SouleMama: What project are you most excited about right now?
Kelly: I started a new blog series in March called 30 Days to Waldorf-Inspired Preschool at Home. I get emails all the time from people wondering if I have a preschool curriculum or what they can do to get started so I wanted to write something really practical for the blog. It’s a step by step guide to homeschooling in the early years and you can follow along from the beginning here. It has been so much fun to share this with my readers and hear what an impact it’s making!
SouleMama: How long have you been in business?
Kelly: It’s been nine months now - last July I released my first homeschooling curriculum and Lavender’s Blue Homeschool was born! It’s a Waldorf-inspired kindergarten curriculum with all the circle times, stories, watercolor painting stories, craft and beeswax modeling ideas parents need for kindergarten all in one place. My goal was to create a complete and beautifully integrated curriculum that helps parents feel confident, competent, and truly supported without having to pull everything together themselves.
I’m excited to announce that on my one-year business birthday (July 2014) I’ll be releasing a complete First Grade curriculum!
SouleMama: What inspired you to start your business?
Kelly: For the most part, our modern culture isn’t supportive of a connected community and family life, and yet when it comes down to it, parenting really matters. Most of us have more opportunity to create peace in the world through our parenting than through any other means. I love supporting parents, and I also love homeschooling and writing our own curriculum - so that seemed like a perfect match. I’ve been amazed by how many of the things I love to do (like writing, singing, and crafting) have all come together in this one business that supports peaceful family life.
