SouleMama: How long have you been in business?
Olga: ELF is a brand that was launched 3 years ago and is based on the Island of Gods, Bali.
SouleMama: In your mind, what is that one thing which makes your business different?
Olga: We are different because through our products each and every customer connects to the beautiful tropical island of Bali, where our pieces are created. Balinese artisan makes each product by hand with genuine love passion and care to make every customer special and unique. Plus we have a great flexibility, offering extensive choice for leather colours and batik linings. You won’t find many brands/companies offering that level of flexibility with their own products.
SouleMama: What role does 'handmade' play in our society?
Olga: Handmade concept has a much greater impact on the society than we can imagine. “Handmade” means unique, filled with love and passion. When anything is handmade as opposed to factory-made more people have jobs earning income and supporting their families, many of which are behind the poverty line especially in Asia. Plus there is a great sustainability factor involved. For example, here at ELF we say that our items are environmentally friendly since we are not using large manufacturing machines and consuming less energy, we use recycle materials for packaging and cocoa paper for our printing needs. Everytime you are making something by hand you can always make it more special by offering recycled packaging, recycled gifts and even using recycled materials for the actually product you are selling.
SouleMama: What advice do you have for people wanting to be more creative?
Olga: Creating something always starts with dreaming of what you want to do, design, create. So dream, small or big but think about all the things you want to do. You will be so inspired by your own thoughts that you won't be afraid to create! You can always start creating little things, making your small dreams come true and you will be surprised how much talent and passion you have within yourself, which will lead you to the next level of your creative life. ☮ ☮ ☮
