Today, we bring you a giveaway from SouleMama Sponsor, Alewives Fabrics. In Rhea's words:
"Located in beautiful Midcoast Maine, Alewives Fabrics has been in business since 1978! For the past decade, the shop has been owned by the mother/daughter team of Barbara Neeson and Rhea Butler. We focus mainly on quilting cottons, but we also carry a great selection of voiles, velveteens, flannels, laminates, lawns and more. We have a brick and mortar shop in Damariscotta Mills, but we also sell our fabrics online through our webstore.
We have a blog called Alewivesgirl where we post tutorials and shop/life stories. We are also on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter."
SouleMama: How do you keep yourself motivated, and avoid burnout?
Rhea: I've been working at Alewives since I was 19 years old, and I'm very lucky to say I've never once felt burnt out at my job. It's a really exciting time to be in the fabric world. There's so much inspiration out there: both through our little local community but also through the internet community. Independent fabric and pattern companies keep popping up all the time, and it's a fun challenge to keep up with it all. Because there's so much amazing product out there, we get the awesome job of sifting through everything and deciding which fabrics and books and patterns and projects fit our shop's personality best.
SouleMama: What's the product or offering that you are most excited about in your shop right now? Tell us about it.
Rhea: Alewives has recently started carrying Liberty of London Tana Lawn, and it's been a huge hit! We're so proud to be carrying this line of fabrics, and as a special gift to Soulemama readers, we wanted to share a free tutorial for making a Liberty and Chambray Throw. Instructions can be found right here on our blog, Alewivesgirl. We've got complete kits available in our shop, but you could easily substitute other materials as well. Even beginners can make one of these throws in an afternoon or an evening. It's simple and soft and such a great way to show off a Liberty print. The chambray is pretty fabulous, too!
