I can't tell you how many times I played checkers yesterday. Or picked up a stitch on Adelaide's new knitting project. Or read Christmas Trolls to Annabel. Or played the boys newest favorite game, Fluxx, that doesn't make any sense but sure is fun. It was a lot of all of the above. But I assure you I am not complaining - quite the opposite. For as much as I love the celebratory family parties and rituals and traditions of our Solstice and Christmas.....I might love the quiet days of the winter holidays just as much. The in between days. The quiet (a relative word, to be sure) days spent at home, diving into new projects and doing a whole lot of nothing. Together.
I hope that in the midst of your celebrations there are similar joyful moments of peace and "nothing"!
