Established in 1978, Alewives Fabrics is located in beautiful Midcoast Maine. The shop is owned and operated by the mother/daughter team of Barbara Neeson and Rhea Butler, who purchased the shop in 2004. In 2010, we opened our webstore, and we now sell fabric all over the world!

SouleMama: Since the last time you were featured on SouleMama, in what ways has your business grown or changed?
Alewives: Recently we've become addicted to sewing with knits. We've been making a lot of Linden Sweatshirts (pattern is by Grainline Studios), and also Lemon Drop Tunics (pattern by Anna Maria Horner). Both projects are fast and easy to sew, and we absolutely love the finished results!
And speaking of Anna Maria, her fabrics continue to be one of our best sellers here at the shop. We've just begun sign-ups for an Anna Maria Horner Monthly Color Club, where for one year we will send 10 fat quarters a month straight to your door. Each month will feature fabrics all in the same general hue, with no fabrics repeated, for a total of 120 gorgeous Anna Maria Horner fat quarters. It's like getting a bouquet of flowers every month, only better because it's fabric and it won't go bad!!!
