Another ski day for the big kids, another dressmaking day with Ani! Though the calendar tells us this season is winding down, the snow outside says we've still got a bit more time. Spring skiing is so good.....and spring dressmaking? Also fabulous. There's no better time for making summer dresses!
This week, we found our pattern in Linen, Wool, Cotton Kids by Akiko Mano. It is such a delight to see these Japanese patterns and styles we love so much translated into English! Oh, the sewing becomes so much easier when you can read the words, yes! Annabel chose dress B - the Dual Yoke Dress. We used a Robert Kaufman chambray for the main dress, with a vintage print from my stash for the yoke and inside bias.
It all came together smoothly - it's just the right kind of pattern for dressmaking day. Not too fussy, and with fairly quick results for my young helper. And at the end of the day, just like every other time before, she stood at the door waiting for everyone to come in and notice her new dress. The one she made, of course. The routine seems to never get old....for either of us.
