Ah, the early morning phone call from the post office, and the corresponding race out the door and wrestling for who gets to hold the box first. Oh, and the mad rush to the feed store to get the mash that we didn't get earlier because we forgot the chicks were coming. All of it - tradition! A springtime tradition we wouldn't miss for the world. And of course, all of that is followed by pleas to bring the chicks inside to play with. Just for a little while, I say. But please wash your hands and put some paper down on the floor first! And then....I find myself on the floor with them and my camera and all sorts of fun ensues.
(15 new laying birds added to the farm, to keep the flock young and fresh. Silver leghorns, buff orpingtons, buff cochins, and red stars. A little something for everyone.)
