There's been some knitting! Of course there's been some knitting - it's October! I'm sure this is something that Casey at Ravelry already has a chart for, but I do wonder if this isn't the biggest knitting month of all. The start of autumn, before the holidays, and with all the excitement of a new (knitting) season ahead. But then there's the quiet of February and the need for knitting then. Hmn...I do wonder.
Yes, so the knitting! I've been freshening up the hat collections with some new things. Hats (if you're not a sock knitter, which I really don't think I am) really are the ultimate project in portability, ease, and instant gratification. And so useful in the end! I cast on for this one for Harper during a Parent Night at Calvin's high school. And I nearly finished it there too, if only I had thought ahead to bring double pointed needles for finishing the job. I thought about reaching for some pencils from the teachers desk, but then remembered I'm new to this school and that might just be a little too kooky of a thing to do (then again, it's Waldorf, so perhaps I'd have earned bonus points). Anyway, it's the City Hat from the Comfort Hats collection by Quince (the same collection has Weekend, the hat I made for Calvin last week). The yarn is Osprey - fabulously thick and squishy and just right for my little guy.
And then, I cast on for another. This one for Adelaide, in some Woolen Rabbit WW Kashmir I had stashed away (the dreamiest of yarns, oh my goodness).
And while we're talking about Adelaide, I thought you should know that she got the shawl. She loved it so, and how can a Mama resist the love of handknits? Not to worry, she's told me that we can share it (how fun is that? Sharing clothes with my growing girl. Love). That is, if I can pry her out of the sheep pasture with it.
