Greetings from Blue Platypus!
Heidi and Scooter, the fashioneers behind Blue Platypus, have made it their mission to have a comprehensive knowledge of production as well as design, and enjoy finding new processes, trying out new silhouettes and fabrics, and constantly evolving. What is the point of making another t-shirt with a one color plastisol print on a factory blank? This lovely made in USA clothing features original graphics and silhouettes, custom dye colors, and soft fabrics knit right here in this country. Blue Platypus is proud of its relationships with its contractors, many of whom are like family at this point, and its relentless devotion to quality. Whether inspired by vintage, nature, nautical, animals, there's never a dull collection!
Heidi: Blue Platypus began about 10 years ago when we decided we wanted to produce something locally that was unique and colorful. There was so much black and grey clothing in Los Angeles, and we wanted to change that! We initially did a 12 animal Chinese Zodiac line on factory blanks, then decided we wanted the shirts to fit real people and to be more unique, so we paired with local knitting mills and small contractors who could do custom cut & sew as well as dye houses and screen printers who are among the best in the world. It was scary at first, but now it's normal for us to order fabric in 1,000-yard increments!
This weekend, Blue Platypus is generously offering the following gifts to ONE lucky SouleMama reader:
