Remember the Koolaid dyeing we did earlier in the year? All that bright, colorful and very fruity-smelling roving has been kicking around my studio brightening up a corner since we dyed it. A lot of it has been used for the kids' projects - needle felting and such. I did make a little yarn with it earlier in the summer. And just this week, did so again. This time, plying it with a bit of our white roving to make for a fun quick and easy skein of one-hundred and fifty yards of wool. Just right, I think, for a hat for a little one. In two nights of fireside spinning, and likely now, a day of spotty knitting ahead, I'll have gone from roving to finished hat.
Ah, that's just the kind of spinning that seems to fit into my days right at this moment. Something cheery and satisfying - quick and fun. A slow build up and light start to all the fiber play that is to come in the season ahead. It's coming. I can feel it!
