Would you look at that? This little girl of mine climbs all over me at least a dozen times a day (so many more), spends much of the night at my side, and certainly talks right in my face for more of our waking hours than not. But gosh, sometimes there's just a moment where you suddenly see them in a different light, isn't there? Looking at these photos, I cannot believe how my baby girl is nothing like a baby anymore! So grown up she is! Though I guess I must have known that, really, because I made her sweater in a size 7 (she's only a somewhat tall 5 and a half year old). I wanted to make it large enough so that she'd be able to hopefully wear it for two winters. I think she'll be able to. So long as she keeps all that growing to a reasonable pace (please, Annabel, go easy on your Mama, you really are my baby after all).
The pattern is Gidday and it was such a sweet and simple sweater pattern to knit - just perfect for the busy days that this fall brought my way. The yarn is our own, with some of the naturally dyed yarn we played with this summer. I was worried about those colors together for a little while - they seemed a bit ribbon candy, or cotton candy, or I don't know...something too sweet. But no, once I slipped it on her shoulders I knew the colors were right. Just right.
