We added another chair at the kitchen table this weekend, as we greeted our French exchange student. He'll be here with us for three months (and then Calvin will go back to France with him for three months). Having only had just one Skype call before his arrival, and with my poor French (very, very poor), you might understand why I was a little bit nervous about all of this. But I needn't have been - we hit the jackpot with this one, who already fits right on into the family. And thus, a regular weekend at home was just enjoyed - full of skiing, sledding, ice skating, music, chess and all of those things. Just with an extra teenager in the house. But as I know I've said here before, I do love teenagers, and I love a full house too. We definitely have that going on these days, and in abundance. And as I look at that last photo above, I see the bit of exposed lathe from the project we started there nearly three years ago now. You know, I don't usually even see it anymore, let alone fret about it. But I do see the full table...and for that I'm so grateful.
